Ashbourne Highland Gathering
Bob Hogg Sheepdog Display

This is not your basic sheepdog display. Bob has aimed high and for that reason has evolved over the years to be something a little out of the ordinary.

Bob Hogg has earned himself an excellent reputation for his professional and highly entertaining displays, in which the dogs work sheep, geese and ducks.

The display is informative for the adults, as Bob shares his unique training methods and great fun for the children, as they are invited into the arena whilst the dogs work the ducks around an obstacle course, down a slide and into a pool. Bob has appeared on many television shows including "Date my Daughter" and the "House of Tiny Tearaways”

The Band of the Mercian Regiment

The Committee of the Highland Gathering are delighted to announce that the 2102 Gathering will feature a very special visit by the Band of the Mercian Regiment.
The band of 4 MERCIAN are volunteers who already have a musical ability and wish to take this further. The 4th Battalion The Mercian Regiment is the Territorial Army (TA) Battalion of The Mercian Regiment.

The band provide many different functions from a marching band on parades to music for dinner nights. They are based in Wolverhampton but have male and female members from all over the Mercian recruiting area.
Ashbourne has close ties with soldiers of the 2nd Battalion of the Mercian Regiment who visited the town in March 2010 as part of a freedom march. They were led by the band on that occasion but this time the focus will be on the band itself who are booked to entertain us with two half hour marching displays, one in the morning and another in the afternoon
